Who doesn't love a sweet dessert after a meal? Just thinking about dessert probably brings a smile to your face. Unfortunately, eating too many decadent desserts adds calories, sugar and extra fat your family doesn't need, and they can be complicated to prepare, so why bother?

Serving quick and healthy desserts can be a terrific way to boost your family's nutrition intake and they don't need to be difficult to make. My favorite healthy dessert is a simple dish of berries topped with a dab of whipped cream and a sprinkling of healthy nuts. You can also layer the berries with plain yogurt and a drizzle of honey for a good-for-you parfait.

Here's another easy and healthy dessert idea. Put some banana slices in a dessert dish and drizzle a small amount of chocolate syrup over the banana and add some chopped pecans. The key to keeping this easy dessert healthy is to use just one tablespoon of the syrup. Don't drown the banana, just add a little flavor. You can make a similar dessert by using apples and caramel sauce instead.
